ImageAccess Version 8
Version 8 of ImageAccess again presents many functional extensions and ergonomic improvements. It is ready for shipping from April 1 st as the second quarterly release Q2/08. Please have a look at some of the version highlights below:

| HDR / Exposure Blending |
Every photographer knows the problem: The scene to be captured exhibits a brightness range too high for all image sections to reproduce visible contrasts on a single image.
The new module HDR Exposure Blending merges the best image sections of multiple images acquired with different exposure times into a contrast-optimised new target image.
This technique allows on one side avoiding bright lights and overexposed spots on critical components and on the other side combining contrast critical foreground/background scenes.
The module may be applied to any number of archive images by simply selecting them. The calculated target image may be exported or directly saved in the archive again.

Fast Acquisition Mode Switching
The image acquisition process in ImageAccess is optimised for one defined optical system: a Multifocus image is acquired from a camera/microscope, calibration data are read out or calculated, and an image processing function is executed: all the steps on a single key stroke.
For more complex hardware systems with several cameras and/or optical devices for a multitude of acquisition techniques, switching was rather tedious until now.
A completely new acquisition concept now allows saving and activating as many Acquisition Configurations as are required by simple selection. Each such configuration includes all functional elements, starting from the acquisition mode, the calibrating system, the image source up to source configurations and image processing macros.

Support for Office 2007
The continuously extended functionality and ergonomics of both the Word Report and PowerPoint Presentation modules are now available for the current MS Office version 2007.

Backtracking Image History

Backtracking image processing operations carried out on an original image or on one of its copies is relevant for security reasons as well as for documentation purposes in standard work flows.
The new function Image History , an integral part of basic ImageAccess functionality, allows graphical tracking of all operations done on an image by a keystroke, starting from original image down to all of its descendents.

| Live Image for Assembly and Reference Chart Comparison |

Since the introduction of Live Image usage for the Measurement module in the last ImageAccess version, the two modules Image Assembly and Reference Chart Comparison now also support this feature to offer improved assistance and efficiency.

| Filter for Keyword List |
Selecting an expression in complex or multi-hierarchical keyword lists may be a time-consuming process.
The new Keyword Filter automatically reduces the available expressions to the ones matching an entered filter string, thus allowing fast and precise field editing.

| Canon EOS 40D |

The new Canon SLR camera EOS 40D provides 10 mega-pixel resolution, fast and precise auto focus and a free choice of interchangeable lenses.
Featuring live image display of real 1024x768 pixels, the EOS 40D arrives as one of the first Compact and SLR cameras at an unseen detail accuracy for pre-visualisation.
The appropriate Imagic Plug-In displays the live image in full resolution and allows controlling all relevant camera parameters, as well as direct image acquisition as with a digital microscope camera.
The EOS 40D is best suited for macro imaging. However, using special adapters, it also may be mounted onto stereo or light microscopes, thus providing a highly cost effective general purpose imaging solution.

| Oxford Instruments Plug-In |

The new Plug-In allows the file-based acquisition of TIF images and related Oxford Instruments meta data from the file header directly into appropriate fields of the image archive.
