Overall concept

Image and multimedia data from all areas (e.g. photo, traffic, media, ambulance, criminal police, etc.) are stored, menu-controlled, in a central server system. Using the ims navigator/database browser with extended user access rights management all these data are available via Intranet and Internet at all work stations for further investigations.

Naturally expert archives for the various disciplines of criminology are in use. The seamless integration of the various image sources, special cameras, document checking and microscopy systems are to be specially mentioned.

Video Visualizing

In order to automate the tedious and time-consuming task of movie visualisation, the PIC ViVi system has been developed in cooperation with the Zurich police. It allows the simultaneous recoding of up to 8 video or DVD players. For the complete examination of a movie of 90 minutes only a few minutes are needed, inclusive of printing a report.

Shoe / Tire Tracks

Tracks can be directly saved in an image archive without classical photography by the use of a calibrated digital repro acquisition system. The image data can be measured, compared and annotated using various functional modules. 1:1 print-outs are available on any printer unit at a keystroke.

The scanner detects a document automatically, generates an image in visible, infrared, UV and coaxial range in seconds and reads (if available) the ICAO code. Images and related data are automatically transferred to the PIC ImageAccess identity card examination application, checked for validity and are ready for usual processing. Two dimensional barcodes can also be read-out.
